Clay Thornton
Clay Thornton is Interim Chief Financial Officer of Clover Health, where he is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the Company, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, capital management, and strategy. Mr. Thornton has spent the majority of his career in Medicare Advantage across finance, strategy, and operations. Prior to joining Clover in 2024, he spent nearly a decade at Humana in a range of leadership roles focused on Medicare Advantage, including pricing, financial planning, and strategic initiatives. He also has experience in the venture capital and private equity ecosystem, where he developed a broader perspective on capital allocation and growth. Since joining Clover, Mr. Thornton has played a central role in managing the core drivers of the company’s financial performance. As CFO of Clover’s Medicare Advantage plans, he has led MA bid development and pricing, provider payment integrity, and the company’s growth strategy, working closely with CEO Andrew Toy and the executive team. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from the University of Louisville.
